I've filled out a couple job applications that asked me for my GPA. I answered honestly (to the best of my ability because I haven't thought about my GPA in over a decade) but in hind sight I just realized they're not going to check. I have a friend who dropped out of high school and lied about having a high school diploma on their resume, got hired, and they got their GED while they were working there.

I don't imagine you'll ever read this Brennan but I feel compelled to share. I'm an odd individual doing very different things in very different places but find you and your story inspiring and compelling. For work I've gone from being a cashier to a baker and now finding a calling in renewable energy systems in the solar sector. At the moment I'm in my early twenties and have found myself in a position managing and working to make the world a better place. In my personal life I attend and crossgame a few different larps and very much enjoy the combat systems in those games. I definitely take it in a different direction but the viewpoints you shared around teaching brought me to tears, I've become a respected expert on combat in these spheres over the past decade and there is nothing quite like teaching a passion to other individuals who share that flame. Thank you for your humor, your character and your candid disposition. We truly made the right person famous. You give validation to the oddballs like myself who want the world to be a better place than it is. The support your content handed me through covid and other trials in my life is invaluable. I know its a slim chance but I hope you get the chance to read this. Thank you and your intrepid hero's

Transcripts are more important than thr actual diploma. Gpa also matters if you sre going to grad school and some compeitive companies might look at it apparently. HOWEVER. Gpa is important WHILE you are in school. For moat schools if you want an internship, campus job, be on excutivr board for a club, do student go'vt, get scholarships etc. A lot of them have a minimum gpa requirement.

I've done hiring in software engineering and I've never cared about an applicant's GPA over what they've done in projects (nor has any workplace cared about my GPA in turn). GPA is good for advancement in academia as well as scholarships, grants, and internships. But it isn't much a relevant indicator of competency in the workplace vs other aspects of an application Plus, in some careers like tech, once you have that first position or two even your diploma no longer matters, save for a relative few companies/organizations which require one of some sort

This is one of those videos you cant show everyone because, why would they care about some random 40yo who plays pretend with toys in youtube right? But god, it can show you things that you know arent or are true about your life. Like i KNOW im in the "incubator" and that my life doesn't start when i get my first job/apartment/career, but it feels so dangerous to say it outloud, "my life alresdy Started and the first 20 odd years I've been an extra on it"

so many empowering and "feeling seen" moments in this interview I cant get enough of it. I love the grace with which Brennan answers the question "why do you keep coming back to this." Storytelling is foundational to my being as well and it's nice to hear that I dont have to have a "why" for it. I can simply be.

Unfortunately, my BOE wants my college diploma. I didn't graduate because I'm missing some student teaching hours, and I'd had a verbal agreement with the dean that my first year of actual teaching would count. Hindsight, I should have gotten that in writing because now they're saying they want me to come BACK to school to do student teaching, abandining my class just so I can collect an arbitrary piece of paper.
